Today at the Walt Disney Company Q1 FY17 Earnings call, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger made the announcement that the Star Wars-themed lands that we’ve been hearing so much about are now set to officially open in 2019. This is incredible news and gets us stoked knowing that Disney is taking their time to make sure these experiences are done right.
As we’ve already heard, the lands are opening in both Disney World Resort in Orlando and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Anaheim, CA. They are said to be the largest single-themed land expansions Disney has ever built at around 14 acres each. These new Star Wars lands are going to transport guests to “a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life.” There will also be multiple new attractions including one that puts you in control of the kessel running Millennium Falcon.
The official groundbreaking was announced back in April of 2016 and Disney has been hard at work ever since. Scan some of the artist’s renderings below or hit the source link for more info on the Disney blog.
